I grew up with a love of fashion, especially high-end designer handbags. My background is in the retail business which I was born into and grew up in. My great grandfather was the largest cloak and suit manufacturer in New York City in the early 1900’s. My family later owned Furchgott’s of Florida, a chain of specialty department stores in north Florida. After graduating from the University of Florida with a journalism degree, I wrote for several small newspapers. Soon after I realized that newspaper reporting was not the career for me. By this time, Furchgott’s had sadly closed the last of its stores as off-price stores began to flourish.

The idea of consignment was just coming around and there wasn’t much when it came to high-end consignment. I was in my early 20’s when I went to work for a good friend in her consignment shop and fell in love with the business. A few years later, in 1996, I opened Jill’s Consignment in Orlando, Florida. And that’s where it all began.

In 1999, three years after opening Jill’s Consignment, I expanded the business by adding a website at the urging of a friend who was a fashionista, shopaholic and budding web designer all in one. I remember very clearly the first item I sold from my website. It was a Coach shoulder bag. I was thrilled. Since then, we have gone on to consign and sell some of the most coveted labels in the world… Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Bottega Veneta and Fendi to name a few.

In 2002, we moved our operations from Orlando to Delray Beach and later to Jacksonville, Florida. We became an internet-only company focusing on only high-end designer labels. Since day one, Jill’s Consignment has flourished. Our consignors are the best in the world. Over the last 30 years, we have built solid relationships with some of fashions best clientele. From New York, to Texas, to California, we’ve built relationships on trust, excellent customer service and individual attention to our clients.

Since opening our brick and mortar store in 1996, and then moving to our internet-only concept, we’ve built a solid and stellar reputation as the best in the business. We’ve done this by following a few simple rules, the most important of which is to be honest. We don’t have “contracts” with our consignors. We go on the simple principle that if you do business the right way, you will continue to do business. We want our customers and our consignors to be so happy with us that they come back again and again and tell all their friends. That is how we’ve built Jill’s Consignment from a little store in Orlando to a thriving internet business.

At the height of our popularity, we were receiving hundreds of items monthly from consignors all over the world. We were one of only a handful of businesses throughout the country doing what we do. Flash forward 30 years. Today, we don’t have hundreds of items coming in monthly. The big guys.. hedge fund backed companies.. came in and took over. Unfortunately, they can’t guarantee what we can. We guarantee that the items we sell come from some of the most well-heeled clientele, that they are the real deal, and that the condition of each item is described to a perfect T.. down to even the tiniest mark. The same can’t be said for some other resale businesses.
